THE possibility of a car share scheme could be available in Tavistock but residents need to register their interest to put the idea into motion.

Many communities across the country have a car club in place and funds are now available to set up a club in Tavistock.

The scheme provides a car to use when someone needs it, with all tax, insurance and repairs paid for. Drivers only pay for the hours they use the car and for mileage.

The scheme is aimed at people who only need a car for a few journeys a week, occasional trips, or would like the reassurance that if their car breaks down there will be a car available to use if necessary.

Before a scheme is put in place, organisers need a clear understanding of the need for a car.
