FUN, flowers and frolics lie in wait for the whole family at South Tawton this weekend. It's show time once again in the village, as the third annual flower festival is ready to bloom into life at St Andrew's Church from tomorrow (Friday) to Sunday, May 11. This year, the festival promises to be bigger and better than ever as the flower arrangers have all taken their inspiration from popular shows and musicals. Ann Crawford, one of the organisers, said: 'The fiddler is on the roof with Mary Poppins, the Phantom of the Opera is in the crypt and the cats are everywhere! 'The starlight express arrives at platform 4 and the carousel goes round the pillar. See Joseph's amazing dream coat and go to Ascot with My Fair Lady and follow the yellow brick road to the altar where seven brothers are waiting for seven brides!' The historic 14th century church will be the setting and made even more inspiring by a dazzling array of different flowers. The eagle eyed should be particularly watchful for the green man, Henry III and the silent orchestra — who will all be lurking in the rafters. On Saturday the church will play host to a special concert featuring the Ockment Singers, Roger Partridge and Anthony Geering while on Sunday, May 11 there will be an interdenominational songs of praise starting at 6.30pm. The festival is free while tickets for the concert are available from The Stores in South Zeal or from Ann Crawford on 01837 840562.
