RESIDENTS in South Tawton parish are being asked their views on proposals to switch off street lights late at night.
Devon County Council has been asking parishes if they would be willing to have some or all of their street lights switched off between half past midnight and 5.30am. The consultation is part of a county-wide scheme to lower carbon emissions and save money. The issue of late night switch-offs was one of the main ideas which came from the county council's Tough Choices public meeting in Okehampton in November.
South Tawton Parish Council is now appealing to residents for their views, in order to make a recommendation to the county council early next year.
To register your views, contact the parish council clerk, Peter Brotherton, at [email protected]">[email protected] or 01837 840685, or alternatively the chairman of the parish council, Andy White, at [email protected]">[email protected] or 01837 840443.
