WITH a back injury leading up to the South West Championships at the Exeter Arena at the weekend shotputter David Dawson feared he may not be able to retain his title but a shiatsu massage did the trick.
David, 16, from Okehampton, took the prize with another record-breaking throw of 16.56 metres.
The young man with a big ambition to be in the Olympics underwent some treatment from shiatsu expert Kevin Taylor from Okehampton College's Fitness Club in the run up to the event and it seemed to work!
David Dawson senior also won two golds and a silver in the veteran competitions of shotput, discus and hammer.
