2008 has proved to be quite a year for cricket at Shebbear College. Its U13s reached the quarter final of the County Cup before losing to St Michael's in a thrilling match which produced nearly 280 runs in 40 overs. The U15s went one better, beating a strong West Buckland side in the quarter final, before losing to Plymouth College in the semis. These results and the installation of four all-weather outdoor and four impressive indoor nets at a cost of £50,000, has led head of cricket, Andy Bryan, to believe that things can only get better. 'The provision of improved facilities has made a huge difference already this season and, with the opportunity to use the indoor nets throughout the winter, I believe that cricket at the college will go from strength to strength.'
