A?PAIR?of handcuffs was one of the unusual items found by Tidy Tavi volunteers during their latest litter picking foray.

Thirty-two yellow-clad volunteers, plus 'Womble' the dog, took part in what was Tidy Tavi's 17th Saturday outing recently. They netted 36 bags of mixed rubbish, as well as seven bags of material suitable for recycling.

Much to everybody's delight, this was also the 17th occasion the teams have been lucky enough to avoid the rain.

In addition to the main assembly of volunteers who gathered in the Wharf Car Park, a number of other concerned residents were out clearing the areas around their own homes at the same time.

Although the teams make every effort to separate items for recycling, this is not always easy from a practical perspective and sorting the rubbish collected remains a long term aspiration.

This time the haul included all the usual items and some curious bits and pieces. These included a complete box of sealant tubes and a pair of handcuffs, found by ex-police officer David Draper.

The Tidy Tavi team meet on the first Saturday of every month outside the Wharf at 9.50am.

High visibility tabards, litter pickers and rubbish bags are provided. just bring your own gloves. Everyone is welcome.
