Tavistock U10s 5

Devonport Services U10s 25

ON another clear bright day, Tavistock U10s were brought back down to earth after their confident win last week.

Devonport Services played extremely well, rucking and recycling the ball with expertise. The first half was close with both teams defending their line well, with Luke Lewandski and Lochlan Fultan putting in great tackles for Tavy.

A slight mistake by Tavistock in the first half lost the opportunity of a try which gave more confidence to Devonport. Tavistock were ten points down at half time but a great try from Tom Pearson pulled the advantage back. However, Tavistock were not able to keep the ball despite Jacob Staig and Ollie Noy Scott working hard. The team were positive and kept going but it was not to be their day.

Man of match: Theo Jenkins.

Liskeard U7s 7

Tavistock U7s 5

TAVISTOCK U7s narrowly missed out in a very evenly matched and entertaining game away against Liskeard.

The Tavistock team, playing only their second proper game, showed some good promise early on by taking the game to the home team.

Oliver Pett scored the first try which was a fantastic team effort.  Further scores by Ollie Hawkins and Jonathan Griffiths, before half time kept the pressure on Liskeard and only a disallowed try from Oliver Pett prevented an even score at half time.

Tries in the second half by Alex Richardson and Billy Wilkinson kept the pressure on the home team, however, while the game remained close, the difference in the second half came down to Liskeard having a number of older and more experienced players.

Despite the narrow defeat, the Tavistock team should be encouraged overall by their supporting play and passing which produced some very good team tries.  This bodes well for what should be a very good season for the boys.
