MAY I through your newspaper, on behalf of the fire Services National Benevolent Fund and the flag day organiser Terry Paver, thank everyone who donated money on July 24.
The total money raised throughout Devon was £12,981.43, which will be used to support the fund in its work in aiding the widows and dependents of fire service personnel.
Not only does the fund help these people in need where assistance cannot be obtained from another source, it also runs two convalescent/therape-utic care facilities, one at Littlehampton and one at Chudleigh, and a remedial therapy/convalescent nursing facility at Penrith, Cumbria.
All this is achieved by donations, legacies, proceeds from functions and events such as the flag day.
Once again a big thank you.
