THE Fairplace Wives and Friends Group is celebrating its 50th anniversary this weekend – and is calling for past members to join the celebrations.

On Mothering Sunday (March 30), the group is taking part in the service, conducted by the Rev Sylvia Coke-Wood from Hatherleigh, at Fairplace Church in Okehampton at 10.30am.

The Wives and Friends Choir will be singing, and other members taking part.

At least three members who were at the very first 'Young Wives' meeting 50 years ago will be in attendance, and the group is calling on anyone who has any ties to the group to come along to the service.
