PUBS, clubs, village halls, businesses and trade associations in West Devon are being invited to take part in a consultation to consider the borough council?s second draft Licensing Act policy. More than 350 existing licence holders, members of the business community, licensed trade associations and parish and town councils will be approached. The policy comes into force in February and will affect pubs, members? clubs, shops and restaurants, among other organisations. The licensing policy will set out the authority?s approach to licence applications and provides information and advice to applicants, residents and local businesses. It aims to secure the well-being of local residents as well as supporting the entertainment and hospitality industries. Cllr Philip Sanders, chairman of the planning and licensing committee, said: ?The borough council has been working in partnership with other Devon authorities to produce the current draft of this policy to establish a common approach. We hope to further refine the policy by taking into account the views of the organisations we are consulting.?
