Exeter Saracens Seconds 8

Okehampton Seconds 32

OKEHAMPTON started at a pace and ran the ball at every opportunity.

Within five minutes they had driven near the Saracens' line. Smart thinking by Adam Curtis saw him take a quick throw to Phil Heard who drove towards the line. He was held up, but popped the ball inside to Curtis who crashed over.

Tries followed at regular intervals through the first half. Firstly the ball was spun right to winger Tim Donovan, who went round his opposite number to score in the corner.

Dave Watts, playing against his old team, picked the ball up in loose play, went inside and out to outstrip the defence for a good solo try.

The final try of the first half for Okehampton came when they punched up the blind side. Good handling and strong running allowed Evan Rees to collect the final pass and dive over right in the corner.

In the last five minutes Okehampton went to sleep and let Saracens back into the match with a penalty and a try.

Saracens started the second half as they finished the first, but after Curtis's team talk at half-time Okehampton tackled like demons. After soaking up all Saracens could throw at them stand-off Richard Gee called a move which saw Curtis take a ball off his shoulder and shoot through the gap to cap a great performance.

With time running out Okehampton pulled the defence left and right giving Evan Rees extra men outside, allowing him to sell a great dummy and nip in under the posts for a try which he converted.

This week sees a testing trip up the M5 to Wellington.
