Okehampton seconds 40

Bideford seconds 12

PLAYING against the wind Okes began the first half brightly, but were made to regret handling errors and a lack of discipline.

From a turnover midway through the first half Bideford made the most of missed tackles to score an unconverted try. Oke came back strongly and capitalised from an up and under from Wonnacott; centres Pete Herrod-Taylor and John Radnor pressured the defence into a mistake with Pete collecting the ball to score. Wonnacott duly converted.

Oke started the second half strongly with an early score from Lee Carey who scored from a clearance kick. Wonnacott again converted.

After many phases of play, Oke won a penalty. A quick tap from Simon Griffiths managed to push the ball wide to Carey, who fell short of the line. Phil Harding was in support to catch the offload and penetrate the defence to score.

The Oke pack continued to dominate with hard runs from John Stevens and it was Bennett who set up another try for Harding; Wonnacott again converted.

Oke managed to pressure the Bideford 22 again with great work from the pack, and Danny Carey and Georgie Trerise set up good ball. Griffiths spun the ball to Herrod-Taylor who had a great run in to score his second.

The next phases were all Bideford, who were camped in the Oke 22 for a long period of time. A try-saving tackle from wing Tom Chisholm managed to stop Bideford scoring, but silly penalties saw Dan Carey get a yellow card and persistencies saw Bideford get their second try, which was converted.

The last play of the game saw Muttley Curtis smash through two tackles and complete his bullocking run with a try, which Wonnacott converted.
