YOUNG people, sports clubs and leisure centres across West Devon are being asked to nominate their favourite sports coach for an award.
A ceremony to recognise and honour the outstanding contributions made by sports coaches in the country will take place at Bicton College of Agriculture in November.
Anyone who knows a coach whom they feel is worthy of the title should hurry to get their nominations sent in. The closing date is Friday, October 13.
The Devon Coach of the Year Award aims to thank coaches for their hard work and is supported by the District Councils of Devon, Sport Aid South West and Devon County Council.
This year there are four award categories — female coach, male coach, young coach and coach of disabled performers.
The sports coaches must be part-time or voluntary and live or coach within Devon.
Each winner will receive an engraved trophy and a cheque for £50.
Borough council sports development officer Joanne Heuze said: 'The role of the coach has become increasingly important in today's sport. The awards goes some way to thank them for their hard work.'
