A BELSTONE artist, who has been given a commission for a piece of work to enhance Okehampton Community Hospital, has again been chosen to show work at this year?s National Sculpture Festival.

Alan Biggs, of Belstone, has been asked to create a sculpture for the entrance to the new hospital, designed with a mother and child theme.

The organisers of the sculpture festival scour through thousands of applicants from all over the world in a variety of styles, and Alan?s work fits neatly into the tough criteria.

The National Sculpture Festival will take place in three locations to provide enough space to display all the selected work.

The sculptures will be displayed in the open air throughout the summer season at art parks in Warwickshire, Canterbury and Guernsey.

There will be in the region of 800 pieces on display over the coming months, making this the largest festival of sculpture ever held in Britain.

Alan recently won a national award for a sculpture which was commissioned by a prestigious new Leeds restaurant.
