Mid Devon Explorer Scouts held their own act of Remembrance by laying a wreath at the memorial to Captain Hunter in Lydford. The group had been asked by Lydford Parish Council to lay a wreath on Remembrance Sunday in memory of all those who had died in the world wars. This was the second year the scouts held the ceremony, which was arranged this year at the express request of the young people themselves. Many people spent a few quiet moments to reflect and remove their own poppies which they then laid around the memorial plaque. Paul Charlton, group leader, said: 'I am delighted that we were able to demonstrate that these young people genuinely do appreciate the ultimate sacrifice made by so many for our freedom.' He added they were honoured to have been asked to lay a wreath on behalf of Lydford Parish Council. Mid Devon Explorer Scouts are girls and boys aged between 14 and 18.
