Exeter Saracens U16s 25

Okehampton U16s 12

SARACENS gained the upper hand in the loose with their forwards driving through the rucks and causing difficulties. The home side also kicked well and from one such kick a penalty was conceded five yards from the Okehampton line. Passed wide Saracens drove over for the first try.

Okehampton put in more effort and a long pass to Peter Blight on the left wing set him free to cruise around his man and the full back to score in the corner. Ollie Wickett converted to leave Okehampton 7-5 in the lead.

A futher chip by Saracens caused confusion in the Okehampton defence and the subsequent penalty although stopped initially led to a further try out wide from second phase ball.

Okehampton retaliated with a run from Morgan releasing Williams on the wing who was stopped 20 yards out. Herrod-Taylor recycled the ball only for Saracens to give away a penalty for handling in the ruck. Unfortunately Wickett was just wide with the conversion attempt.

Saracens pushed deep into Okehampton's half and a high tackle allowed them to try a kick at goal. Again this was missed and the half ended with Saracens leading 10-7

The second half started badly for Okehampton and a try for Saracens was conceded because of poor tackling.

Again Okehampton tried harder and were rewarded with a penalty in midfield. Herrod-Taylor drove 20 yards and the ball was recyled quickly for fly half Wickett to place an inspired chip into the path of Blight who catching it on the bounce scored in the corner to leave the score 15-12 to Saracens.

After this Okehampton's game fell apart when both their scrum half and Saracens full back left the field. Playing 14-a-side Saracens made their penalties count by scoring twice more from close range.

Okehampton played the last five minutes camped on the Saracens' line but could not convert this into points.

Man of the match: Peter Blight.
