A FORMER Tavistock College pupil has secured her place in the European Triathlon Championships after a rigourous test in the mountains of Wales.

Trish Stewart competed in the Bala Triathlon in Snowdonia, Wales earlier this month in a race which consisted of a 1,500m swim in a very cold lake, a 40k bike ride on closed roads and finally a 10k run. 

Trish finished in 2 hours 19 mins and 29 seconds in this British Triathlon Ranking Series event.

She was the 12th female to finish, as well as finishing 220 place out of 706 men and women who took part.

The race was also a qualifying competition for the European Championships, which will be held in Althone, Ireland next July.  

A delighted Trish said: 'The best bit is that I have now qualified to compete in Ireland next year for the GB Triathlon team for my age group!'
