Duchy Division 1 Gerrans 1 Mary Tavy 3 MARY Tavy returned to winning ways despite making hard work of their victory over Gerrans. The visitors made a rusty start to the game and were soon a goal down as Gerrans scored with a free header from a corner. Tavy had goalkeeper Tony Rawlings to thank for keeping the score 1-0 with a stunning array of brilliant saves. Tavy levelled on the stroke of half time as Dave Downing played in James Phillpotts, who did well to keep his balance as he rode a challenge and coolly placed the ball past the keeper. When the second half began Tavy were leading within a minute as James Coole fed Matt Dudley; the finish was stunning as he drilled the ball home. Tavy?s third was the killer as a strong, forceful run by Phillpotts found him through on goal and he rounded the keeper and rolled the ball home. Tavy could have added to the score as Brockington struck the bar. The game died out but Tavy captain Nick John made a terrific last gasp tackle as the Gerrans forward was through on goal.
