MOORLAND runners will be attacking Cawsand Hill this weekend from two approaches. The annual runs have been organised for more than ten years. On Saturday, July 9, the assembled field will start from Sticklepath at 2pm and head for the summit of Cawsand Hill. On Sunday, July 10, the starting point will be Belstone and the event will be combined with the village fete. On Saturday, runners will start from map ref SX641940, behind Sticklepath Foundry, head for the top checkpoint, SX636915 and return, covering four miles, climbing 1,150ft. The Belstone to Cawsand Hill run starts at 2pm the following day from SX620935, village green at fete, to the checkpoint and back again, a four-mile route with 850ft climbing. Organiser Phil Haygarth said he was keen to encourage locals and runners of all abilities to come and have a go, just for enjoyment and satisfaction. The course is not marked so navigation skills are required, the lower age limit is 14 years. Entries to both runs close at 1.40pm, and cost £4 on day only.
