BERE Ferrers Community Shop and Café recently learned it will be presented with a royal award.
The community shop and café has been given the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service, which is the equivalent to an MBE.
The award will be presented to staff at a ceremony in Exter on July 24 by the Lord Lieutenant of Devon. They will also receive a certificate signed by the Queen and will be entitled to use the crown logo on any stationary or promotional material they use.
The shop and café has been running for six years and is staffed entirely by volunteers. It has a steering committee, which takes the responsibility of the day-to-day running of the service.
The committee expressed thanks to all of the volunteers for caring enough about the village and Bere Ferrers Parish to make the shop and café such a success.
