OKEHAMPTON'S Rowan Duke recently travelled to Somerset to represent Devon and Cornwall at the Area 7 Side Saddle show.

Six members made the trip which resulted in Devon and Cornwall winning the inter area points trophy after winning seven of the ten classes held.

Rowan, 19, won three of the five classes she entered. Riding her 15.2hh 15-year-old horse, Rainman, she started the day by winning the adult open equitation side saddle class.

After lunch the pair went on to win the side saddle concours d'elegance and was awarded the rosette for the highest placed adult member wearing a top hat.

Rainman then won the best side saddle riding club horse class for the fourth year in succession. Rowan also won the rosette for the highest placed adult in the class.

The pair were also placed fourth in the equitation jumping class and were the highest placed team members in the costume concours d'elegance, standing sixth.
