Graddon Vending Devon Premier Cup, third round Hele Rovers 1 Tavistock 4 THE Lambs entered the competition at this stage in what could be a banana skin type match against lower league opposition. They had to get used to the different facilities and pitch and make do with a change of kit after secretary Eric Pinch forgot to bring it with him - thanks to Trudie Wilson and partner Aston in coming up with a spare kit. The Lambs got off to a good start with Glynn Hobbs spoiling a chance after four minutes when the ball flew off his body and over the bar from a Mark Conday cross. A minute later they went ahead when Lee Ireland?s cross was flicked on by Conday for defender Kirkham to, unfortunately for him, help it over the line. Hele got back on level terms after 12 minutes when the ball was played up to Cooper to hold it up and turn to shoot low past Andy Meeds. This shook the Lambs into action and four minutes later they went in front as Chris Menhinick won the ball in midfield to slot through for Conday to race onto and round the keeper to put away. A minute later and the Lambs gave themselves breathing space with their third. A Hobbs run across the area saw him play the ball out wide for Dave Hallett to centre and John Hadjiyianni to volley home with his left foot. Hele threatened but Meeds was never seriously troubled with Hobbs firing wide and Menhinick seeing his shot tipped onto the home side crossbar prior to the interval. The Lambs seemed to take their foot off the pedal in the second half, but finally got on the scoresheet with 15 minutes remaining. Sub Paul Cowling and Conday combined down the right for the latter to lay the ball into John Morris to let fly with a deflection to deceive the keeper. The Lambs now progress to round four where they will play hosts to the winners of Heavitree S C/Brixham on November 26. Fixtures ? Saturday 29th, F A Vase v Penryn, see separate advertising feature.
