MID Devon Hunts Pony Club's Rosa Malseed competed at the National Tetrathlon Championships at Hartpury College in Gloucestershire and did brilliantly to achieve her target of a top 40 finish.

The competition was spread over three days, with the first day, Friday, consisting of the shooting and swimming phases. Thanks to some coaching from former club member and Olympic hopeful, Georgina Geikie, Rosa's shoot was greatly improved on her recent attempts, while her swim was also a season's best.

As Saturday loomed the ride – the cross country course seemed huge, but Rosa and her horse Khali were undaunted and produced a brilliant clear round. Finally on Sunday morning Rosa had to attack the 1,500m running course and again was up to the challenge, producing her best run of the summer.

When the results were announced, she had finished in 34th place, just a few points short of winning a prodigious bronze award – a great achievement for her first championships as a senior.
