TAVISTOCK Rotary Club have unveiled their calendar of events for the coming year.

As usual, the club will have a stall at Goose Fair, where they will be selling second-hand books. Last year, the stall was very well stocked, and the club will again be grateful to receive any unwanted books from local people.

In November, there will be another visit by the Hart Choir. Three years ago, this choir had a very successful concert at the Wharf and last summer, the choir's director participated in the Yanomamo Musical, which involved many local school children at Tavistock College.

This year, the choir is to perform in Tavistock Parish Church on Saturday, November 17.

Club members will be involved in the Christmas collection, with Father Christmas in Bedford Square on Dickensian Evening and on Fridays and Saturdays during December.

The house-to-house collection will take a different format this year. Father Christmas in his sleigh will tour the residential estates in the early evening with parents invited to bring children to see him.

A Race Night will be held in the town hall on Monday, February 25, 2002, and a Spring Dance, including sit-down meal, on Saturday, April 13, also in the town hall.

There will also be a charity golf day, at Tavistock Golf Club in May of next year.

Closer to the present day, anyone with unwanted books to donate for the Goose Fair stall is asked to contact Jeff Stackhouse on Tavistock (01822) 617000 to make arrangements for collecting books. Alternatively, they can be delivered to Edwin Clark's office on Plymouth Road.
