A TAVISTOCK man has been selected as a national finalist for the 'agriculture student of the year' in the 2014 British Farming Awards. Ross Edwards, 22, from Harper Adams University, has been chosen in recognition of his determination and self-motivation for agriculture and student life. Ross will graduate with a first class BSc (Hons) Agriculture degree next month and has accepted a role on the Velcourt trainee farm management scheme. Ross, a former chairman of the Harper Adams Forum Society and Tavistock YFC member, said: 'I'm really surprised to have been shortlisted, but it's really great to see my hard work recognised. 'It's an excellent way to round off four years of studying at university.' The British Farming Awards focuses on British farmers discovering inspiring stories of people who have changed what they do and how they do it. The winners will be announced at a special awards evening on October 23, to be held at Chateau Impney Hotel in Droitwich.
