AMATEUR rocket makers from all over the South West will be reaching for the sky at a special event being held at Follygate Airfield later this month.
The open weekend on July 26 and 27 has been organised by the West Devon-based South West Amateur Rocketry Membership (SWARM), the only organisation of its type in the region.
Clare Hopper of SWARM said they will be launching different sized rockets all weekend for the public to come and watch. The largest rockets are likely to be launched in the afternoons.
?We have to wait for the wind to drop as they tend to drop back down on parachutes,? said Clare.
The open weekend begins at 10am each day, finishing at 3pm.
