USING their unique blend of mask, physical characterisation and fast-paced comedy, Ophaboom Theatre explore the parallels between Robin Hood's England and the modern world when they visit Lydford on Saturday, April 20.
In England in 1215 the rich are getting richer, while the poor struggle to survive. The leaders are barricading themselves in their castles, oblivious to the rising clamour for change and justice. Out of the forest comes a champion for the downtrodden, a voice for the powerless, a new hope.
The play is directed by Howard Gayton, designed by Catherine Lindow, and the masks are by Ninian Kinnear-Wilson.
Robin Hood — 'as radical as a man in tights can get!' — is at the Nicholls Hall, Lydford at 7.30. Tickets, adults £5, children and concessions £3.50, from Fred Still, (01822 820479).
