WEST Street has been closed to traffic since Tuesday (May 12) due to a burst water main.
The residents on the street were without water for a couple of hours on Tuesday but the road has remained closed in order for South West Water to complete a permanent repair which should be finished by today (Thursday).
A spokesperson for South West Water said: ’South West Water temporarily repaired a burst main on West Street, Tuesday.
’The burst occurred at around 2pm and water supplies were restored at around 4pm the same day.
’In order to complete the repair we were required to close West Street and are currently working to carry out a permanent repair on Wednesday, May 13. We aim to complete this and reopen the road on Thursday, May 14.
’We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused.’
