Teignmouth U12s/U11s 7
THIS was a good performance from the North/Oke side against a larger and well drilled Teignmouth.
North/Okes opened the scoring with a high ball by Andrew North who made a strong diagonal run to score in the corner.
Teignmouth replied with a good try through the forwards using their size advantage to the full.
North/Okes then scored a well worked try, the forwards from a ruck supplying quick ball to the threequarter line for North to score his second in the corner. Conversion by Darcy Heard. Heard then scored after determined running, leaving the score at 12-7 at half-time.
The second half saw the forwards, led by Will Hawkin, with Andrew Fishleigh, James Speak, Tom Dean and Merick Kirby, start to take control. Robert Steptoe had an outstanding game at prop for the first time.
Heard then scored his second try following a mistake by Teignmouth which allowed him to steal the ball and jink his way to the try-line.
By this time James Ewen at scrum half had grown in confidence and North/Okes were spinning everything wide.
From one such move Cameron Rickerby, who had performed well all game at second centre, broke through the defence to score a well deserved try.
North/Okes' defence was again the key to this game and as usual it was led by Heard, Rickerby and North.

NORTH/Okes played hosts to Teignmouth in an evenly contested game.
The first half saw Mike Heard making a lot of ground from broken play. Teignmouth took the lead midway through the half, only for North/Okes to reply with a strong run from James Speak.
North/Okes then seemed to go to sleep and allowed Teignmouth to score three quick tries.
The second half saw more commitment, with the forwards recycling the ball, enabling the backs to run hard at Teignmouth's defence, resulting in tries from Peter Gillard (2), William Lethbridge, and Sam Robertson and three conversions by Jordan Lee.
