Okehampton Seconds 1

Tavistock 1

OKEHAMPTON Seconds hockey team had to work hard for their second league point of the season in a tight encounter with Okehampton were under pressure for much of the first half but scored the first goal following a poorly taken hit out by Tavistock. The ball was pushed back into the D where Colin Lethbridge diverted it past the keeper.

Tavistock capitalised on their pressure with a goal near the end of the half.

Tavistock had the better of the early stages of the first half but time and time again Steve Yeo or John Stevens collected dangerous crosses and swept them away to safety.

Goalkeeper Keith Dennis was well protected but still had to make a number of important saves.

The Okehampton midfield of Keith Webber, James Boon, Colin Lethbridge and Richard Dawson disrupted the rhythm of Tavistock's game.

Mark Parsons ran with the ball into the Tavistock D on a number of occasions forcing their defence to concede a series of short corners from which Okehampton were unlucky not to score.

Remarkably, Parsons failed to score in this match but retains his impressive statistic of 5 goals in 5 games.

Both teams deserved their point from this game and the young Okehampton side are to be commended on persevering against a more experienced side.
