HOPPING on board the drive to make Tavistock a more 'dementia friendly town' is local business 4Hire Taxis.
The company was one of five organisations in the town which has recently been recognised by the Tavistock Dementia Action Alliance and the Devon Dementia Care and Support Partnership, after completing dementia-friendly training.
The taxi firm will now be entitled to display the national symbol which demonstrates to a person with dementia or their carer that they will be welcomed and can expect understanding, respect and support.
Tony Parker, chairman of Tavistock Dementia Action Alliance, hopes more businesses and social organisations will commit to becoming dementia-friendly.
