THERE was a miraculous escape for residents of Berryball Close after a huge beech tree fell onto a house.

No-one was injured in the incident on Wednesday, October 15, where the tree fell across a car park and on to one of the properties owned by West Devon Homes.

The tree crushed a Honda parked in the car park and caused back windscreen damage to a Peugeot also parked on the estate.

The damage to the houses in the area was not as bad as it could have been, as much of the tree miraculously fell in a gap between two of the houses. One house had its roof tiles and porchway damaged by branches.

Workmen arrived on the scene shortly after the incident was reported and spent several hours clearing a pathway into the houses so residents could get in and out of their properties.
