FIVE residents of Bere Alston and one from Bere Ferrers were honoured at an investiture at St Eustachius Church, Tavistock, on Saturday, June 7. At the ceremony of the Military and Hospitaller Order of St Lazarus of Jerusalem, Harry Davies from Bere Ferrers and Robin Holliday, Ian Larkin, Robert Kirby and Hazel Taylor from Bere Alston were all made companion members of the ancient order in honour of their charitable work and support for the community. Trevor Paddon-Hall from Bere Alston was made a commander of the order. They received their awards from the deputy bailiff of England and Wales, Charles Holloway.
