A SEARCH and rescue charity based in Okehampton has received another glowing report from Investors in People. Rapid UK (Rescue and Preparedness in Disasters), which sends search and rescue teams to major disasters in the UK and overseas, was commended on ?great rapport and camaraderie among members? and ?a real family climate and strong team ethos.? Director Graham Payne said he was delighted with the positive report, and stressed the commitment of the management committee further to build on these strengths. Rapid UK volunteer teams have attended earthquakes, floods and hurricanes in more than 24 countries around the world, including last year?s devastating earthquakes in Algeria and Iran. They also train locally-based disaster management teams in areas of the world vulnerable to large-scale natural disasters such as Columbia, Pakistan, India, Peru and Turkey. The group is supported totally by donations from the public and all its members are volunteers.
