MAURICE Larose, a Tavistock resident and teacher at Launceston College, is trying to raise funds for street children in Madagascar.

Maurice is going to visit the country in April to look at the plight of street children and the efforts being made to alleviate their situation.

?Madagascar, the fourth largest island in the world, has become one of the poorest countries in the world,? Maurice said. ?Thousands of families have been forced to let their children fend for themselves. Most of them live on the rubbish tip by day and in cardboard boxes at night.?

Maurice is organising a raffle to raise money for the children. Anyone who would like to donate a prize for the draw or any organisation or individual who would like to make a financial donation can send a cheque, made payable to Launceston College, to Mr Larose at Launceston College or contact him on 01822 614068 or 01566 772468.
