TAVISTOCK AFC friendly fixture with Royal Racing due to be played on Sunday was cancelled due to the fact that Racing were forced to play in the final of the Errea Cup.
The final should have been contested between Luton Town and Grimsby Town on Sunday evening. Grimsby Town withdrew from the competition and returned home. With both losing semi-finalists setting off home after their defeats on Saturday, Royal Racing who did not even qualify for the semi-finals of the competition, were forced to play in the final under the terms of their contract. Tavistock AFC said the officers of the Belgian club were upset that they had to replace Grimsby Town and expressed their desire to fulfil the fixture at Tavistock.
The Lambs chairman, Roy Pethick, would like to apologise to all those fans that turned up on Sunday. He said: 'There was little we could do as to prevent this happening as final notification that Royal Racing had to play in the final was not received until mid-day on Sunday.'
