STAFF at the Tavistock Woolworths store are still facing an uncertain future, with no news of their position for the New Year.
A spokesperson for Woolworths head office this week said there was no information concerning individual stores and discussions were still ongoing to try to sell the business as a going concern.
In early September, Woolworths' chairman, Richard North, rejected an indicative offer tabled by Iceland founder Malcolm Walker to buy the group's 815 stores, but the company was put into administration on November 27.
The stores have been holding closing sales and discounting stock.
Many local residents have a sentimental attachment to the store, which has been in existence in the town for many years, and a collection of poems about the store is being compiled for sale for charity.
Staff at the store were unable to comment on the situation.
