SIX employees with South West housebuilder Wainhomes are putting their best foot forward for the national charity, Breakthrough Breast Cancer, later this month.
Sales director Adrian Dyer; management accountant Ros Bragg; accounting technician Claire Kelly; purchase ledger clerk Annie Warren; cashier Denny Davis and secretary Karen Mitchell from the Okehampton-based company are among 20 people taking part in the eight-mile Crocus Walk from Okehampton Station to Bridestowe this Saturday.
Claire Kelly said: ?We have raised over £300 so far and the company has pledged to match our total pound for pound, which means we will donate over £600 to the Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity.
?This sum could be doubled, because the financial services giant, Norwich Union, has pledged to match all the money raised by fundraisers like ourselves, so eventually the charity could receive over £1,200 from Wainhomes SW staff alone.?
The Crocus Walk is a picturesque trail that follows the cycle route alongside the railway line from Okehampton Station to Meldon Viaduct and Bridestowe.
It offers outstanding views to Okehampton Castle and passes through some bluebell woods.
?Some of the group are also attempting to walk the eight miles back to the station, in order to further increase the sponsorship money that we can raise for the charity,? said Claire.
