TAVISTOCK Cricket Club finished their season in the warm sunshine of  a September Sunday with the Social XI playing against the West Devon Club.

Tavistock batted first, and with good contributions from the Stephens' brothers and McGahey family; and a cameo innings from Andy Rich ensured that a competitive 166 was scored in the 30 overs.

Geoff Lawson bowled superbly for the visitors and finished with figures of 4 for 17. The West Devon Club set off steadily in reply. John Rich made a solid 25 and with Steve Dashpur and Geoff Lawson ticking over the runs, they gradually inched towards their target.

Keith Baskerville scored an excellent 30 towards the end but the Tavistock bowlers kept taking wickets at regular intervals, and eventually the West Devon Club were bowled out for 144, 22 runs short of their target.
