Bodmin Trophies Duchy League

Division 3 Cup first round

North Hill 2

Mary Tavy 5

A SUPERB second half display sealed a sweet revenge victory for Tavy, fielding a full strength side for what must be the first time this season.

With the return of Ian Hunter from injury and no work commitments from others it was good to see Tavy back at their best.

The game started at a startling pace with both teams creating attractive attacking football. Dan Brockington was first to find the net, putting the visitors one up on the half-hour mark.

North Hill, always dangerous on the break, then stunned Tavy with two almost identical efforts. Precise finishing saw the ball buried deep in the right corner of the trailing Tavy net, giving keeper Chris Hurford no chance.

A slight reshuffle at the break worked wonders for Tavy, whose game lifted considerably at the re-start with Paul Jeffery commanding the midfield. His efforts were rewarded with his second in two games within the first ten minutes.

Sam Pridham, fast becoming the most improved player of the side, finished off a smart move to throw the advantage Mary Tavy?s way once more.

Brockington soon strode in to add his second and Tavy were flying. All that was left was for Pridham to add his second with a great solo effort, coolly chipping the keeper to tie the game up.

A repeat fixture is still to be held in the league and surely is one to look forward to.
