TWENTY three teams competed in Sunday?s Sticklepath Pram Race with ?Thomas the Tank Engine? winning the best construction prize. The first male team across the finish line was the appropriately named ?Boy Racers? with the women?s ?Team Rambo? not far behind. The ?Lion, Witch and Wardrobe? was the best fancy dress team. The route covers Sticklepath, South Zeal and South Tawton, stopping off in the pubs along the way for some much-needed refreshment. Hand-made contraptions in all shapes and sizes raced for victory. Mino Penna was the most senior entrant, forming part of the ?Blooming Victory? team. The best individual was Paul Grey ?The Bucket Man? who collected £133 with his band of helpers. Sticklepath Sports and Social Club Committee expressed a special thanks to Paul and the Gills 60s team (Gillian?s Curtis Cuts) who raised £344 which is the highest amount of team sponsorship money handed in so far. Money raised will be split between local good causes.
