ONE of the UK?s best loved comedians and poets, John Hegley, will be appearing at two local venues over the next ten days. Tomorrow (Friday) will see the star of the 1980s Comedy Store at Milton Abbot Village Hall, where he will be delivering a show packed with humour, clever comic poetry and silly songs. John, who is known for his deadpan delivery on his specialist subjects, spectacles and dogs, will be supported by Devon?s own multi-talented Clive Pig. The event, which begins at 8pm, has been organised by Villages in Action and tickets can be obtained by calling 01822 870484. And John Hegley will be performing a number of his poetry works at Tavistock Library on September 23, from 12.30pm to 1.30pm. He has published six best selling volumes of poetry and for his latest ?Uncut Confetti? he traced his family roots back to the sultry South of France conjuring up the spirit of his French ?Folies Bergere? dancing Grandma and visiting an ancient carnival in Nice. In addition to his published works, John is a regular on radio and television, presenting the Radio Four series The Heard and appearing in BBC Three?s Whine Gum series. Tickets are free and available from Tavistock Library.
