EACH year, Hurdwick Golf Club holds a charity day to remember Tim Reeder, the first secretary at Hurdwick, who died of Motor Neurone Disease some years ago.

The event was played in excellent weather and the winners were John and Richard Berry with 43 stableford points.

In second place were Ray Truscott and Les Porter with 41 points and George Whitfield and Matt Truscott were in third place on countback, also on 41 points.

The only ?two? of the day came from Adam Bridgewater, to win the ball sweep.

A total of £489 was raised for the charity and the committee expressed thanks to all who supported this event.

The October medal winner was Ernie Trimble, by a large margin with a net 61. Martin Stevens also produced an excellent net 65 to take second place and Tim Gale was in third spot with 71.

The icy conditions caused some of the division two competitors some difficulty but Clive Edmunds overcame the problems with a first class net 64.

Paul Gunn was in second with 73 and Russell Southcott was third with 76.

In the midweek stableford, Tim Gale led the field with 40 points, followed by George Whitfield and Peter Brookbank in second and third places, both with 39 points.

Club captain Rodney Browne and his partner Tim Hawkins had beaten four pairs from other South West clubs to reach the divisional final of the Penina Captain?s Classic at Bristol.

One further victory would have taken them to the final in Portugal in November. Unfortunately, they failed to win at Bristol and their successful run has come to an end.
