ON Saturday East Cornwall Pony Club held its triathlon and final competition of the triathlon winter league.

The Spooners stalwarts of Lily, Megan, Kieran and Henry together with newcomers Frankie McKechnie and William Searle started the day with some respectable shooting, with William shooting an impressive 720 in his first ever competition.

Megan and Lily produced their best swims and were in the third placed team narrowly missing the individual placings in a hot junior girls competition. Frankie and Henry also swam personal bests and Henry won joint best swim.

The Spooners mini boys team of Henry, Kieran, Frankie and William came third overall with Frankie and William also fourth in a mixed 8/9 year old team. Individually Kieran was ninth and Henry saw off his rivals to win the class

In the winter league competition in the junior girls class Lily and Megan came in fifth and sixth respectively. Henry concluded the league with a double win taking first place in the minimus boys league.

THREE Mid Devon Pony Club members had a most enjoyable trip to Liskeard for the East Cornwall club's annual triathlon.

Emily Colling has spent January and February trekking around the South West competing in the regional 'Winter League.'

She has done really well to finish in the top half of the junior girls' class – this is by far the most competitive age group in the event.

Rosie Lyon-Smith was entering her first Tri for many years, and managed good scores in each of the three phases.

Meanwhile, Emily Isaac, who has to plough a lonely furrow as Mid Devon's only senior girl, was improving her personal bests in the shoot and swim and finished her run in exactly the same time as in her previous two outings!
