POLICE in Tavistock were hot on the Drake's Trail last week to give some helpful advice to cyclists and pedestrians using the new route.

PCs Dave Pickles and Cathy Veale, along with Police Community Support Officers Mark Canvin and Kevin Williams, met cyclists and walkers at Lidl's superstore in Plymouth Road before setting off on bicycle along part of the trial.

They were there in response to some conflict between cyclists and pedestrians recently using the trail, particularly in the Tiddybrook and Bishopsmead area.

There have been occasions where disagreements have occured over shared pathways, inconsiderate cycling or dogs led loose off leads by their owners going in front of cyclists.

The police team handed out leaflets on good riding and safety and were there to listen to public concerns.
