POLICE in Okehampton are appealing for witnesses after an accident at Sampford Courtenay last Saturday resulting in the death of a motorcyclist.

The accident happened at approximately 4.08pm at Greenhill Cross at the junction of the A3124 and the A3072. It involved a green Subaru Forester car and a grey Ducati motorcycle.

MPC Ian Strawbridge, of Okehampton traffic unit, said the motorcyclist, a 39-year-old man from Bow, was transferred to a specialist unit in Birmingham — but died later.

MPC Strawbridge said: 'We are looking for witnesses to the accident, or anyone who might have seen these vehicles just prior to it — or perhaps they might have seen something in their mirror having passed the area.'

MPC Strawbridge said the driver of the Subaru, who comes from the Simonsbath area, was uninjured but extremely shocked.

Anyone who can help the police with their enquiries should contact MPC Strawbridge on 01837 658462.
