I HAVE great sympathy for the lady living at Cross Lanes, Bridestowe, regarding the fast moving traffic and the danger with her young son in his pram (Letters April 11). I also live on the old A30, also without a pavement.

My concern is much the same as hers. It's terrifying when out walking, having to contend with huge lorries (I thought that was why we had a by-pass) vans and very fast cars, many of which pay little attention to walkers.

My adult cousin was killed outright by being sucked off his bike by the airstream of a lorry which was going too fast and was too close to him. This accident happened in Surrey, but I fear a similar accident could happen here; it's only a matter of time.

Please, please can the Highways Authority do something to help the plight of all who live on this racetrack road?
