ON Saturday 30 July 30 at Okehampton Golf Club a four ball better ball competition for The Barnes Cup was held.

The winners of division one and the Barnes Cup with 47 points were Paul Skidmore and Richard Reid. Rod Wright and Trevor Parker were second with 45 points, and in third were the pairing of Andrew Parry and Robin Webb with 44 points on the back nine from, in fourth Graham Starkey and Evan Rees.

The winners of division two with 46 points were John Birch and Roger Wools.

Second were Pete Okopski and Bob Barrett on the back nine with 44 points from, in third Martin Jewell and Eric Pengelly.

On Sunday August 31 a mixed drawn competition for The Dora Milner Trophy was contested.

The winners with a gross score of 93 net 72 were David and Jane Warren.

Second place went to Arnie Searle and Penny Deakin with a gross 87 net 73.

Following last week's successful Seve Ballesteros Foundation Charity Day held at Okehampton Golf Club, the club captain Mike Hutchinson is delighted that due to everyone's generosity he has been able to increase the amount raised to £1,250.

His grateful thanks go to all who contributed towards this worthwhile charity and he would also like to thank Bev Lawson, Ashley Moon and Val Spry andthe team for their help on the day.

The top ten men for this event were Neil Penfold, Peter Kiss, Malcolm Hooper, Nick Redman, Kevin Pedrick, Harry Hawking, Jonathan Rattenbury, Paul Widdows, Martin Aggett and Ray Stevens.

The top five women were Marcia Jones, Janice Thwaites, Val Dodsworth, Jenni Hutchinson and Sylvie Gowers.
