Okehampton Argyle 3rds . . . . . . . . . . .4

Culmstock . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3

A WELL-earned second victory for the thirds, but it came at a price with two Argyle players, Shane Monnox and Scott Hooper, requiring hospital treatment as a result of injuries sustained in the final minutes of the match.

Both lads are now recovering well.

From the kick-off, Okehampton were overwhelmed and were a goal down after 3 minutes.

They recovered well, dictating play for the next 25 minutes, but despite netting the ball three times, only scored once, when Kinsey lobbed the keeper after Morgan gained possession.

Culmstock made the most of two attacking moves and scored on both occasions.

Okehampton?s second goal came from a move similar to their first, with Morgan winning the ball and Kinsey, who has sharpened the Okehampton attack since joining the team at the start of the season, scoring to take his tally to four goals in two games.

The half-time score was 2:3.

During the second half, Okehampton gained momentum.

Richard Eddy succeeded in marking his man, and numerous Okehampton attacks flowed, using the full width of the pitch.

Evans scored from a free kick on the edge of the area, ably assisted by Powell, who distracted the keeper.

Shortly afterwards, Monnox was injured after a fully committed run up the left, and the management tactics were to defend the draw.

The team thought otherwise, and the winning goal was headed home by Richard Eddy, from a well placed corner by Alan Stepto, just moments from the final whistle.

The match was well attended, and the support is appreciated by the team.

Man of the match: Shane Monnox, for a fully committed performance in all areas of the pitch, including a last ditch sliding tackle that dispossesed a Culmstock striker who looked certain to score.

Next match: 2.30 p.m. kick-off, Saturday 13 September, home match ?Devon County Cup.
