A PLANNING application for a new, two-storey building within the heart of Tavistock has been submitted to West Devon Borough Council.
The application by Gardner Property Investments Ltd was submitted on January 15 and focuses on vacant land behind 3 Brook Street, a Listed building, the front of which currently houses Oggy Oggy Pasty Shop and four apartments. The land proposed for development borders onto Old Exeter Road and is parallel to Paddons Row.
The proposed development could see the creation of four one-bedroomed apartments on the brownfield site, arranged roughly symmetrically around a central access.
Due to the location and small unit size, no on-site parking has been provided. The existing pedestrian and vehicular access from Paddons Row will be maintained.
Property consultant Simon Powell, from Simon Powell Commercial, said that the proposal would ‘provide much needed small residential accommodation for either the owner occupier or rental market’.
He said: ‘We believe this is a sensible proposed use for a brownfield site in the town centre.’
